A Linux backup utility that we use internally across our systems and servers. It is multi-threaded, de-duplicates and writes to a squashfs backup file, drastically reducing time for the backup and the size of the final backup file, whilst still allowing the backup to be mountable to extract files if required.

Why "SquishedUp"?

Its name is derived from;

  • The software compresses or squashes the data into a squashfs data format,
  • It de-duplicates the stored data.
